Girls are natural-born scientists, curious and ready to take on the world one project at a time. The Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council were busy this year pushing boundaries, developing unique projects and having fun with purpose! Here is a quick summary of activities our future scientists, engineers, technologists and mathematicians have been up to during 2016!
The Brainiac Maniacs - one of only seven teams in the Katy FLL Qualifier- were recently selected to advance to the championship! This year they won an award for strategy and innovation, which is a new award.
Troop 28250 spent the night at Space Center Houston in early November and participated in their NASA overnight program. The girls said they learned a lot and had a blast! Did you know that half of NASA's newest astronaut class are all women?
Also in November, the Brainiac Maniacs participated in a demo of the new surgical robot, da Vinci Xi at Houston Methodist West Hospital. They were so amazed.
In July, our Girl Scouts had a wonderful time learning code from our friends at Microsoft.
Coming February 18, GSSJC Girl Scouts will again set the bar with their participation in The Houston Museum of Natural Science's event, Girls Exploring Math & Science. The event will allow girls to work with hands-on experiments with local professionals at HMNS. Learn more here.
