Behind the Scenes at GSSJC: 2016 Fall Product Program

Ever wonder what happens behind the big glass doors at the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council? Girl Scouts happens, thanks to the effort made every day by the employees and volunteers who work here.

This week, GSSJC wants you to meet the staff behind the Fall Product Program. If you haven't heard, the Fall Product Program launches September 24--that's this weekend! It takes our Product Sales Department all year to plan the sale, which includes making decisions on new products to include and the amazing rewards girls earn for all their efforts.

So what makes the 2016 Fall Product Program so important for girls and families to participate in? We asked the Product Sales Department members and listed their responses below to give you the inside scoop on the best Fall Product Program yet!

Q: How does the Fall Product Program benefit and educate girls?
A: This is a great way for troops to get a head start on funding their activities for the year. Not only do they get to participate in the online sale but they can get a great Avatar patch for selling just six magazines. They can also get a wonderful 100th Anniversary patch. Most importantly this is a great way for girls to practice for the Girl Scout Cookie Program, because it is with friends and family. Girls can learn how to get some of their shyness out of the way and build their courage in a safe space. (Rachel L., Product Sales Manager)

Q: What is new this season that makes this the most exciting sale yet?
A: Honey Roasted Mixed Nuts that come in a 1lb container and a new tin that girls will love! But besides new products, we have new troops participating. A lot of them are brand new to Girl Scouts and this will be their first experience learning the Five Skills: Goal Setting, Decision Making, Money Management, People Skills, and Business Ethics. Q: What do you want families to know about this Fall Product Program?
A: It is a comfortable sale so it’s easy for girls to work on their confidence. It's short, so they can also really focus on their budgeting and goals going into the Cookies Program. There is less competition where they can also work on simply supporting each other. (Carrie C., Product Sales Manager)
