Happy Earth Day!

What will you do to commemorate Earth Day?

Will you plant a tree? Collect cans? Why not participate in a local clean-up effort? This month, over 75 scouts from the multi-level Vietnamese scout troop, Lien Doan La Vang, did just that when they participated in the Houston-Galveston 23rd annual River, Lakes, Bays 'N Bayous Trash Bash.

Trash Bash is the largest single day waterway clean-up event in the State of Texas. It is managed by the Texas Conservation Fund, and has an average of 4,500 volunteers every year.

This year's group, which included girls from the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council, worked all day with their families to make our waterways cleaner. Those who attended stated that it was a beautiful day to spend with their families, and they enjoyed making the city a better place to live.

We are proud of our Girl Scouts and the other scout families who participated. After the girls finished collecting trash, Girl Scout Brownie Troop #3005 finished the day by performing a flag ceremony. Great job!
