Girl Scouts Continue Earth Day Tradition

April 22, The Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council celebrated Earth Day with a new tradition. On Earth Day, Girl Scouts, parents and GSSJC staff went to work planting a garden and building a sitting area behind GSSJC's offices. "One girl can make a difference," they pledged, "but together we can change the world."

While the new office break area may not necessarily change the world, for GSSJC staff members it provides a much-appreciated escape during the nine-to-five work day. Not to mention, for the girls who participated, the stones they laid in the dirt that day will provide a foundation upon which their character as future world leaders and caretakers can be built.

"The Pledge", as the girls called the space, was first built in 2015. Troops from Franklin Elementary, San Jacinto, Martinez Elementary, Richey Elementary and Bellaire Methodist Church all participated in making this years renovation possible.
