The 2016 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo season began with a big Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council welcome. Thousands of people saw our Girl Scouts in action when they were greeted during the HLSR Parade by girls in wagons, on a float and on horseback. The Green Starlettes Drill Team led the way followed by this year’s Girl Scout Gold Award recipients, 1000+ Club members and the Council’s horseback riding teams, SPURS and STARS.
To honor 100 years of the Girl Scout Gold Award, Gold Award recipients graced the GSSJC parade float.
But this won't be the Girl Scouts only appearance in the 2016 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The Council History Committee has organized for our story to be told in one of the educational displays. Our display will be on show till the end of this season when we say goodbye to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo till next year.
