Our robotics teams are having a successful year

We are so proud of our robotics teams who are having a successful Girl Scout year.
Our robotics program consists of five First Lego League (FLL) competition teams for girls aged 9-14 and one junior FLL team for girls aged 5-8. This is the first year we have a sponsored team for Jr. FLL.
Our Junior FLL team dubbed Smart Sassy Lego Ladies earned an award for their optimal application of simple machines – they made a musical band out of Legos, simple machines, and recycled materials.
Our FLL teams were also successful in qualifying to participate in championship tournaments taking place late February.
Here's the rundown:
  • Although the Luna Tech team did not place, they had a very fruitful season where members gelled as a team and became coding rock stars.
  • The Robo Raiders earned third place for their project and presentation and the Robot Runners team earned second in the same category.
  • Our BotCats team received a Judge’s Award for their research and preparation, which stood out from all other teams.
  • Last but not least, the Brainiac Maniac team placed first in Core Values (FLL organizational values similar to the Girl Scout Law) and first in Robot Performance.
Congratulations to all the teams!
We are so proud of the work they have accomplished and the Girl Scout values they have exemplified. GSSJC would also like to say a big THANK YOU to the coaches of these teams, who have been meeting weekly with them for several months.
