Resident Camp Spotlight: Camp Misty Meadows

Ready to love, hug & groom? Then Camp Misty Meadows is the perfect fit for you. The start of resident camp - June 15 - is just a month away, and we're highlighting each of our camp properties on the GSSJC blog. Still not sure which camp is the best fit for you? Can't decide on a session? Stay tuned to this series for a sneak peek at what camp looks like. (Check out Camp Casa Mare right here!)

Horseback riding is the main attraction at Camp Misty Meadows near Conroe. The Robert and Janice McNair Equestrian Center includes four riding arenas and a herd of 40 horses waiting to be ridden, loved, hugged and groomed by summer campers. Girls can experience different levels of equestrian experiences. In addition to the four-legged attractions, the camp offers a pool, archery range, covered pavilion and more.

Girls will stay in a dorm or screened-in cabin at Camp Misty Meadows - both will have a camp bed for each girl. Dorms include showering facilities while cabins will have an adjacent shower house. Campers will enjoy their meals in the air-conditioned lodge that also includes craft/activities rooms and a large back porch.

Special interest sessions at Camp Misty Meadows include - you guessed it - horseback riding, as well as archery and swimming. Campers can also enjoy traditional camp activities such as making crafts, hiking, playing games and more. Girl Scout Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Ambassadors and Seniors can attend sessions at Camp Misty Meadows.

Campers may choose to try hiking one of our many trails, various arts and crafts sessions, exploring nature and more! "A" sessions are Sunday through Tuesday. "B" sessions are Wednesday through Friday.

Theatre in the Woods (Juniors - Back by popular demand!) - The scene is set for campers attending this session. Act out your talents on stage or behind the curtain, creating and arranging props, organizing costumes or applying make-up. Be a part of the team as you rehearse for the end of the week all camp performance.

Dreamcatchers (Juniors - Back by popular demand!) - Explore the rich Native American culture of Texas as you learn traditional crafts, dances, games and stories. Learn all about “the Tribe of Texas” and even learn how to design and make your own seed bead jewelry!
