Photoblog: Just Desserts 2014

Please note: we will be sharing additional Just Desserts photos via Facebook in the coming weeks! Here's a quick sneak peek at last Thursday's event:

Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council held its annual donor appreciation event, Just Desserts, at La Colombe d'Or last Thursday, January 23. Eight Houston area restaurants are invited each year and assigned one Girl Scout Cookie flavor. They must then create a delicious dessert using their Girl Scout Cookie, which are served up both donors and a panel of judges.

Our judges panel each year is a combination of local media representatives and Girl Scout co-judges. Each pair has the difficult task of sampling all the desserts and deciding what awards to give out. This year's media judges included: Sonia Azad from KTRK Channel 13, Amy Davis from KPRC Channel 2, Dana Donovan from Houston Family Magazine, Lizzet Lopez from Univision Channel 45, Eric Sandler from CultureMap and Katharine Shilcutt from Houstonia Magazine.

In addition, Just Desserts 2014 was a French theme as donors visited the "City of Sweets" through all the sweet treats made using Girl Scout Cookies. From Caramel DeLight eclairs and Peanut Butter Patty macarons to a Thin Mint daquoise and Thanks-A-lot Saint Honore, our restaurants delivered!

Girl Scouts who participate in this event as a media co-judge, chef assistant or greeter, and they are all members of the Council's 1000+ Club. These girls are top cookie sellers from the 2013 Girl Scout Cookie Program (meaning they know their cookie business inside and out!), and we're thrilled we can highlight their achievements at this event!

Congratulations to all our winners! Thank you to our media judges as well as our 1000+ Club members for their participation as well. And, most importantly, thank you to our donors! You help make Girl Scouting a reality for more than 60,000 girls in southeast Texas each year, and without you we couldn't build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.
