Troop #25232 visits with firefighters to earn Night Owl badge

As we get closer to winter, the nights are getting longer in southeast Texas which makes it a perfect time of year for Cadettes to earn the Night Owl badge! Troop #25232 recently completed the badge and shared some of the fun they had.

Badge work began during a troop camping weekend in early October. Camp is a great place to do things like observe the stars in the night sky, listen for nocturnal animals or do some midnight garden sketches. But there was one badge requirement the girls would have to do later – learn about someone who works a night shift.

“The girls thought visiting firefighters would help them complete the badge requirements, and it would be a fun thing to do,” said Troop Leaders Fumiyo K. and Sandra A.

So off to their local fire station they went! The girls came prepared with a list of questions to ask the firefighters. They also got a tour of the station, watched a firefighter jump into all his gear in less than two minutes and heard lots of amazing stories about their work.

“We all had a great time!” said Fumiyo.
