Media Wrap-Up: Feb. 16 - March 1

Each week Girl Scouts all over our Council are recognized by local media for their service projects, awards or even just for doing a good deed. Check out our favorites from the past few weeks below! reported Troop #25239 hosted a Valentine's Day party for seniors at the West University Senior Center. The Girl Scouts sent handmade invitations, baked treats and even performed a Valentine's themed skit.

The Daily News in Galveston shared some great recipes using Girl Scout cookies! Shortbread oven-fried chicken? YUM! (You can also see the complete article here.)

The Sugar Land Sun reported former GSSJC Girl Scout and Columbia University freshman Jillian R. was recently elected freshman class president of the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science. It's great to see Girl Scouts continuing to lead like this, isn't it?

And in Gold Award news:

  • reported Girl Scout Rachel V. earned her Gold Award by promoting healthy eating habits to new American immigrants in her community. Congrats Rachel!
  • Ultimate Fort Bend reported Girl Scout Myria P. earned her Gold Award by creating a touch cart for the Houston Museum of Natural Science in Sugar Land. Great work, Myria!
