Media Wrap-up: Jan. 12-18

Each week Girl Scouts all over our Council are recognized by local media for their service projects, awards or even just for doing a good deed. Check out our favorites from the past week below!

The Cypress Creek Mirror reported Troop #14043 might be the politest Girl Scouts you'll find. The troop recently held a weekend campout at a leader's home where they learned etiquette and manners galore. (We can't wait to be invited to their dinner parties!)

KHOU and News 92 shared news of the new Girl Scout Cookie available to customers this year - the Mango Creme. This buzz-worthy cookie is getting a lot of attention - hope the Thin Mints don't get jealous...

Several of Girl Scouts who have earned the Gold Award have been in the news this week:

  • The Bellaire Examiner shared Shannon G. hosted a health and running camp for kids to earn the Gold Award.
  • The Sugar Land Sun and both shared Girl Scouts Sydney R. and Carolyn R. earned the Gold Award. Sydney hosted a home gardening workshop at an assisted living facility, and Carolyn set up a recycling program at her high school.

Congrats to these ladies on their accomplishments!

Don't forget, you can always submit your own troop news for consideration on the blog by emailing us at
