Media Wrap-up: Oct. 27 - Nov. 2

Each week Girl Scouts all over our Council are recognized by local media for their service projects, awards or even just for doing a good deed. Check out our favorites from the past week below!

Troop #17681 visited Camp Robinwood and shared this video with us - looks like these Girl Scouts had a great time! If your troop is headed to camp soon, don't forget to take along a camera, snap some photos and send them to us for the Scrapbook section of The Golden Link!

Ultimate Spring reported Cypress Cares attended GSSJC's The B.I.G. Event last month and passed out more than 500 boxes to Girl Scout troops excited to collect supplies for care packages for soldiers - what a great service project!

Ultimate Spring also shared Girl Scout Rachel P. received the Lifesaving Medal of Honor in their "FYI" column.

Katy Lifestyles & Homes Magazine shared Troop #17294 earned their Bronze Award. The Girl Scouts made activity baskets and fleece pillows for patients at Texas Children's Hospital in Katy.

Speaking of awards, check out these Girl Scouts who were recognized by their local papers for earning the Gold Award:

  • Ultimate Cy-Fair reported Brittany B. earned the Gold Award by leading her volunteers in teaching young girls dance and nutrition. She also got a shout-out on the GSUSA blog. Congrats Brittany!
  • Ultimate Fort Bend and YourSugarLandNews.com reporter Krisha D. earned the Gold Award by leading her volunteers in hosting a healthy living clinic for refugees at Interfaith Ministries. Congrats Krisha!

We love reading so many good stories. Have you seen a great article in your local paper? Share it by emailing the link to menzor@sjgs.org.
