Media Wrap-up: Nov. 17-30

Each week Girl Scouts all over our Council are recognized by local media for their service projects, awards or even just for doing a good deed. Check out our favorites from the past two weeks below!

Ultimate Woodlands reported Girl Scouts are seeing an increase in the popularity of archery this year following the release of the movies "Brave" and "The Hunger Games." Woodlands members of AIM, Archers in Motion, met up with reporter Lindsay Peyton and shared why they love the sport. Great article!

Ultimate BelliareUltimate Montrose and Ultimate Heights all shared the great news about improvements beginning at Camp Myra S. Pryor. We can't wait to see these completed!

GSUSA's blog shared in their weekly "Coast to Coast" post GSSJC Girl Scout Kalpana V. is hosting an upcoming STEM event as her Gold Award project. We can't wait to hear more about it.

Recently on the GSSJC blog, we shared some photos from our float in the Houston Holiday Parade. We also had a great guest post from GSSJC volunteer Jo Miller on why she and her husband David continue to volunteer for Girl Scouting as a family even though their own children are adults - it's a really great read, and we're lucky to have volunteers like Jo and David.

Don't forget, you can always submit your own troop news for consideration on the blog by emailing us at communications@sjgs.org.

We love reading so many good stories. Have you seen a great article in your local paper? Share it by emailing the link to: menzor@sjgs.org.
