Media Wrap-up: Oct. 20-26

Each week Girl Scouts all over our Council are recognized by local media for their service projects, awards or even just for doing a good deed. Check out our favorites from the past week below!

The Liberty Vindicator shared the upcoming 152nd birthday of Juliette Gordon Low with readers. We are especially excited to celebrate her birthday as we wrap up the 100th anniversary year of Girl Scouting.

Three GSSJC Girl Scouts were recognized for earning the Gold Award:

  • Ultimate West U reported Kristen S. earned her Gold Award by leading a dance clinic for recently arrived refugee children at St. John's School's Summer Express.
  • Ultimate The Woodlands reported Claire F. earned her Gold Award by leading a team of volunteers in hosting and planning a one-day event for girls at the Tamina Community Center as well as collecting diapers, baby food and other items for the center.
  • YourWestUNews.com reported Alexandria W. earned her Gold Award by hosting an animal cruelty awareness workshop. She was also mentioned on the GSUSA blog's "Coast to Coast" entry on Monday, Oct. 22.
  • The Katy Times reported Dayna P. earned her Gold Award by sewing bags and collecting toiletries for the Star of Hope.
  • Finally, Ultimate Pearland reported Kim M. earned her Gold Award and was recognized by Congressman Pete Olson for her accomplishment.
Congrats to all five of these ladies on their accomplishments!
