Media Wrap-up: Sept. 22-28

Each week Girl Scouts all over our Council are recognized by local media for their service projects, awards or even just for doing a good deed. Check out our favorites from the past week below!

It's been a very busy week around GSSJC as we've all been preparing for The B.I.G. Event tomorrow! (Hence the quiet blog this week...) We hope to see you and your troop there - if you haven't bought an advance ticket, don't worry - it's just $15 at the door. Come check out Girl Scout-approved band Adelaine, enjoy cake to celebrate our 100th anniversary with GSSJC CEO Mary Vitek and Houston Mayor Annise Parker, learn CPR and get a free CPR training kit, make your own Traveling Girl Scout - and so, SO much more.

The B.I.G. Event
George R. Brown Convention Center
Exhibit Hall 3A

1001 Avenida De Las Americas
10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

In other news, the Houston Chronicle also shared a story on Cypress Girl Scout Volunteer Randi Lewis and her family's dedication to Girl Scouting - check out the cool photo of multiple generations of Girl Scouts!

GSUSA unveiled the U.S. Mint-designed commemorative coin honoring Girl Scouts' 100th Anniversary, as covered by the Houston Chronicle. About 350,000 of these coins will be printed and available in 2013. Check out the video of the official announcement, made in Dallas, below!

We love reading so many good stories. Have you seen a great article in your local paper? Share it by emailing the link to menzor@sjgs.org.
