Media Wrap-up: Sept. 15-21

Each week Girl Scouts all over our Council are recognized by local media for their service projects, awards or even just for doing a good deed. Check out our favorites from the past week below!

Several Houston-area papers, like The Bay Area Citizen, have been sharing when local Girl Scout rallies are taking place. If you're looking for a rally in your area, check out our rally locator on GSSJC.org. Just type in your zip code, and rallies in your area will be pulled up! So easy - come join us as we enter our second century of girl leadership.

Ultimate Heights shared Girl Scout Porscha A. earned the Gold Award by hosting a health and fitness workshop. Congrats Porscha!

You can keep up with all our Gold Award recipients recognized in the news by following our "Go Gold" board on Pinterest.

Finally, the GSUSA blog shared an article from the Dallas Business Journal about a brand new phone app, call BIG TEXpedition, launched by Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas just for Girl Scouts attending the Texas State Fair which opens Sept. 28. Girl Scouts and adults alike can download the free app and use it to navigate their way through the fair using Girl Scout trivia and clues. How cool!

If you're a leader or taking your Girl Scout to the Texas State Fair this fall, download the app for your iPhone at www.statefairgirlscouts.com/iphoneapp or for your Android at www.statefairgirlscouts.org/androidapp. (I've been playing with the app at my desk this afternoon - very fun stuff. Wish I was headed to the Fair to use it!)

We love reading so many good stories. Have you seen a great article in your local paper? Share it by emailing the link to menzor@sjgs.org.
