Media Wrap-up: Aug. 1-17

Each week Girl Scouts all over our Council are recognized by local media for their service projects, awards or even just for doing a good deed. Check out our favorites from the past two weeks below!

We've seen lots of news on Gold Award recipients all over the Houston area this week. Great to see these ladies recognized for earning Girl Scout's highest honor:

Claire P. worked to beautify Casa El Buen Samaritano, a free clinic in Houston, Ultimate Memorial reports.

Ultimate Cy-Fair shares twin sisters Alexandria and Ashley constructed new elements and hosted a volunteer appreciation party at Special Cheers, a gymnastics facility for children with special needs.

Ultimate Fort Bend reports Claudia S. and Alexis J. both earned their Gold Awards. Claudia held a day camp for residents at a local assisted living center and Alexis held a workshop to teach children ages 3-8 healthy eating habits.

Finally, Ultimate Pearland shares Girl Scouts Kristen J., Carolyn P., Danielle B. and Elizabeth H. all earned the Gold Award as well! Kristen developed a campaign to educate people on the dangers of texting and driving. Carolyn hosted health workshops for girls. Danielle held a two-week culture camp for kids, and Elizabeth hosted a hurricane preparedness seminar.

Congrats to all these ladies on their accomplishment! We love reading so many good stories! Have you seen a great article in your local paper? Share it by emailing the link to menzor@sjgs.org.
