Guest post: Troop #323 goes to Washington

This summer we've asked Girl Scouts in the Council to send us guest posts on their exciting trips. This travel blog comes to us from Elyssa D. (written entry/collage) and Beth Ann B. (photoblog) of Troop #323, a troop of Girl Scouts grades 6-10 in Dickinson, TX, who recently returned from a trip to Washington D.C. for Rock the Mall. Check out all their fun activities below!

Want to become a guest blogger? Girl Scouts 13 and older can email communications@sjgs.org for more information.

My troop went on an amazing trip to Washington D.C. in June. We loaded up two vans and drove from south Texas. It was a loooong drive but worth it in the end.

We stopped by Rock the Mall and had a bunch of fun! The heat drained us a bit, but meeting new girls was a very fun experience. The Mall was flooded with fellow Girl Scouts. It was amazing.

We also went to many museums, Busch Gardens and some of the girls even went to a water park. Our troops’ 11-day trip to Washington D.C. was a once in a life time experience. All the fundraising and saving two years worth of cookie money was DEFINITELY worth it!

At the Capitol we got to see all kinds of cool paintings, statues and famous desk spots!
I stepped in the exact middle of Washington D.C.!

We also went to see the monuments,  and I really liked this one. First it was a picture, then it was made into a HUGE statue.

We also got to see the Lincoln memorial! It was GIGANTIC!
