Weekly Media Wrap-up: May 5-11, 2012

Each week Girl Scouts all over our Council are recognized by local media for their service projects, awards or even just for doing a good deed. Check out our favorites below!

Houston Business Journal announced GSSJC's own Cameron D. won the K12 Voter's Choice Award in their I Want to Rock the Mall YouTube video contest. Congrats Cameron! Check out her song below - if you're anything like us, you won't be able to get it out of your head.

The Cypress Times reports Girl Scout and high school junior Janan L. was named a Top Teen in America at the Mayor's Volunteer Houston Awards. Despite a busy school schedule, Janan volunteers in the community through her church, school and, of course, Girl Scouts. She is a Gold Award recipient - way to go Janan! recognized Troop #27131 for their efforts to collect compose-friendly waste at St. Helen's Church Pavilion to earn their Bronze Award project, the highest honor a Junior Girl Scout can achieve.

Ultimate Fort Bend shared Girl Scout Erin N. earned the Gold Award for creating books on tape for children at an area apartment complex.

And just in case you missed this sweet piece of news this week, Nestle announced the launch of its Girl Scout candy bars in June.
