Weekly Media Wrap-up: May 12-18, 2012

Each week Girl Scouts all over our Council are recognized by local media for their service projects, awards or even just for doing a good deed. Check out our favorites from the past week below!

Ultimate Pearland reported approximately 100 Girl Scouts in the Mavel/Alvin area gathered to celebrate the 100th anniversary and planted a special tree for the occasion.

YourDaytonNews.com shared Daisy Troop #5990 visited the Jones Library in Dayton and enjoyed reading "Bears, Bears and More Bears" and donated books to the library in honor of Girl Scouts' 100th anniversary.

TheCypressTimes.com and the City of Houston shared Troop #25162's donation of nearly 1,000 stuffed animals to the Houston Police Department's Southwest Patrol Station. The Juniors donation will be used to comfort children dealing with traumatic events.

KHOU.com shared GSSJC's own Cameron D. won the Voter's Choice Award in the "I Want to Rock the Mall" YouTube contest, a story we shared here last week.

The GSUSA blog shared our story from last week about GSSJC's involvement with the Girl Scouts Forever Green project - pretty cool!

On our blog, we spotlighted a family with multiple generations of Girl Scouts in honor of Mother's Day and our Goodykoontz Museum of Girl Scout History in honor of International Museum Day. We also announced we're looking for guest bloggers - Girl Scouts age 13 and older and invited to share their travel experiences this summer! Email communications@sjgs.org for more details.

We love reading so many good stories! Have you seen a great article in your local paper? Share it by emailing the link to menzor@sjgs.org.
