GSSJC Celebrates 100

There was no shortage of ways to celebrate our 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts yesterday.

In honor of Girl Scouting's centennial on Monday, March 12, Girl Scouts in San Jacinto Council delivered more than 100 gift baskets for all baby girls (future Girl Scouts) born that day at Ben Taub and Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospitals. Complete with hand-made cards, baby essentials and tiny Girl Scout gear, the gift baskets were donated by troops across the Council's 26-county area.

The newborns being honored also joined hundreds of other baby girls born that day across the country as honorary members of Troop #2012, a special 100th anniversary troop of Girl Scouts of the USA.

In observance of the momentous occasion and to raise awareness of Girl Scouting, Houston City Hall lit its building green for the evening to celebrate 100 years of empowering girls to make a difference in their communities.
