Girl Scouts accept proclamation from Harris County Judge Ed Emmett

As part of Girl Scout week, held March 11-17, GSSJC has received proclamations celebrating March 12, 2012 as the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting from many communities in our 26-county area. Proclamations have been received from Congressman Ted Poe and Congresswoman Shelia Jackson Lee as well as from several communities surrounding Houston, including Richmond, Missouri City and Stafford and as far away as Beaumont, Lufkin and Nacogdoches.

To celebrate the week, Harris County Judge Ed Emmett invited a group of Girl Scouts to his office to officially present them with a proclamation declaring March 12, 2012 as Girl Scouts Day. The girls took a tour of his office and had the chance to ask questions about his job before accepting the proclamation on behalf of the Council.

All proclamations celebrating the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts will soon be hung up at the Council offices in Houston to share with visitors.
